Learn the History

For the first time the Hawaiian Islands appeared on the World map as the Sandwich Islands in the end of the 18 century. They were discovered by the great seafarer James Cook who came to these beaches in 1777. Americans have lodged here from the beginning of the 19 centuries, and since nature and climate of these places were beneficial by 1850 they adjusted cultivation of a sugar cane. During that time the capital of the Hawaiian Islands became the city of Honolulu.
In 1870-1880 the situation became aggravated and requirements about annexation of the islands were even more often distributed. In the beginning of the 1890s revolution flashed on Hawaii, and after overthrow of the queen Liliuokalani the provisional government which in February, 1893 suggested signing the contract about annexation had been generated.
However in 1894 Hawaii were recognised as the republic and had been proclaimed by the USA. In 1897 the contract about annexation was again put on consideration by the senate and was rejected again. At the peak of the Spain-American war the Congress accepted the joint resolution of both chambers on annexation of the islands, and in 1959 Hawaii received the status of 50-th state of the USA.
